Meeting to consider formation of
Cross Country League held at Albion Hotel, B'ham, Tuesday April 7, 1925.
Chairman C E Lindsay (Smethwick?)
Present R A James (Wednesbury H
M Weaver (Dudley H)
J Peace F A Peace (Harborne H)
J W Adey (Lozells H)
B Bashford C W Winspeare (Smethwick H)
Upon opening the meeting the Chairman mentioned such objects as the League would serve,
and asked Mr B Bashford to put forward his proposals.
It was felt that a League comprising the six clubs invited would be a success, and
although West Bromwich Harriers were not represented, it was believed that they would
enter into the proposals with the same spirit as those Clubs present.
It was explained that the meeting was called for discussion only and for those present to
go to their respective Commitees and report on the decisions arrived at.
The following rules were suggested:
1. The name of the League be the Cross Country league
2. The league be confined to six Clubs
3. Home and away fixtures to be arranged between members
4. First 6 from each Club to count. (First Claim members only)
5. A combined run of Clubs to be held in October each year
6.Each Club be allowed 3 delegates
It was decided that the following questions be
dealt with at the next meeting
1. Headquarters
2. Subscription
N.B. The continuation of the League proceeded from this date onwards. The "Sunday
Mercury" shield was acquired (see below) and the League got going.. |
