League Stalwart - Stef Shillington (13/01/2014)

Peter Bryan, Chairman of Kennilworth Runners, pays tribute to one of his squad - Stef Shillington:-

"Whether you run at the front, in the middle or at the back of the pack, fighting for positions is all important in Cross Country & incredibly competitive in Division One. The last placed runner in Division One's fixture on Saturday, in Coventry & for his first 'wooden spoon', was Kenilworth's Stef Shillington

A couple of years ago, he was telling me about his glorious battles at the back of the field & I challenged him 'not to be last'. Until Saturday, Stef had always come in ahead of at least one other runner, often another Kenilworth Runner, maybe Colin Bricher or Tom Dable, until his luck finally ran out

Stef is 70 years old, absolutely loves his Cross Country & is delighted to be able to run in the top division. I'm sure he'll be there at Race 4 in Cheltenham looking for scalps

A Life Member at Kenilworth, we are really proud of him & perhaps we should all have a target of looking this fit at 70"
