League Landmark & Cross Country Archives (02/01/2018)

As we head into 2018 we look “back” & “forward” at our developing cross country history.

The latest “League Landmarks” table shows it could be the year that one athlete, Andy Nock, from Halesowen reaches 150. No not his age but the number of League races that he has competed in & completed.

This may come around as soon as 13th January 2018 when the third race of Division 2 is staged at Cofton Park, Longbridge in Birmingham. If not it remains to be seen if he will he do it before the end of the season?

If & when this happens we hope to carry a photograph of Andy on the website if one of his club mates can catch him!

Whilst on League history it is interesting to see the depth of our results archive that we carry on the website and we note also that our friends at the West Midlands Young Athlete’s Cross Country League are also beginning building up a similar record of their races. Check out our results archive via the "Results" menu item.

Why are we mentioning this? Well a large number of our current athletes who now ply their racing efforts in the Birmingham & District Invitation Cross Country League started out in that league. Indeed we share a number of officers and officials.

Before the West Midlands Young Athlete’s Cross Country League existed the Birmingham & District Cross Country League staged a “Young Athletes” race prior to the “Senior” events.

Once the West Midlands Young Athlete’s Cross Country League matured the need for a “Young Athletes’” races at the Birmingham League fixtures abated.

Athletes from our clubs can now look back and build a fuller picture of their cross country racing experiences.

As ever we are always looking to fill any gaps in our results archive and they too are looking for early results. Perhaps some of our “seniors” can help both Leagues out!
